TRUMPF, which introduced LED surgical lights in 2006 with the iLED 5, will unveil the TRUMPF iLED 3 at the 2007 AORN Congress. Multiple patented technologies allow the TRUMPF iLED series to offer benefits not available from any other light. Up to 184 white and color LED's provide up to 160,000 Lux of low heat, virtually shadow-free illumination. Heat increase at the surgeon’s head is less than 1° C. Even extreme shadowing is compensated for by the iLED's Shadow Correction feature. iLED technology offers—for the first time ever—the ability to change color temperature, providing optimal contrast and tissue differentiation. Economic benefits include dramatically increased LED life cycles of approximately 20,000 hours: an estimated 5 - 8 years.

The smaller, lighter iLED 3 allows for increased applications in surgi-centers, cath labs, and—in conjunction with the iLED 5—in general and specialized surgery. The iLED 3 uses 3 lighting modules compared to the 5 used in the iLED 5. Each module contains more than 30 individual LEDs.

Both the TRUMPF iLED 5 and the new iLED 3 are available with TRUMPF’s new, integrated TRUMPF TruVidia CCD camera which provides razor-sharp, true-to-life video and still images.
